Training

I'm about to set off to climb the "3 peaks" - Snowdon, Scaffel Pike and Ben Nevis - and cycle the roads in between them. I'm cycling with my brother (Alasdair) and our friend, Rob and we hope it should take 7 days.

I decided to join the trip at rather short notice and in the past three weeks, the thought of 90-mile days has got me out on my bike for some training on the roads around home in Newtonmore. With a quick shop on cyclestore (amazing online cycle shop for anyone interested) I've been transformed into a lycra-clad road cyclist - the phrase "all the gear and no idea" springs to mind! I've swapped my rather clunky upright bike for my dad's lovely specialized touring bike and so far enjoyed every minute of the cycling :)

I'm going to be raising money for "Development Through Challenge" which is a small charity which runs Mile End Climbing wall in East London and aims to get young people into the outdoors. I'm hoping that the charity will complete its registration with JustGiving next week so once that has happened, I'll post a link to my sponsorship page.

I'm heading down to Betws-y-coed by train in the morning and we'll start cycling on Tuesday morning. I'm planning to update this with our progress through the trip so keep looking to see how we're getting on and how much pain I'm suffering!

Thanks for reading :)
